We recently had the pleasure of working with a client who wanted to kickstart her downsizing journey with a bang. Her home was beautifully curated with décor for every season, reflecting the joy she found in decorating and hosting her loved ones. However, the vast amount of décor she had collected had started to feel overwhelming.
With a double-wide garage and two off-site storage lockers full of holiday decorations, we brought everything together in one place and started sorting it into categories. This helped her decide what was meaningful and what she was ready to let go of. Instead of overwhelming a thrift shop or selling piece by piece, we opted to set up a yard sale for her, and the community response was amazing!
Teachers came to stock up for their classrooms, kind-hearted shoppers bought gifts for those in need, and seasonal workers found some fantastic bargains. The energy was so positive that a few buyers returned the next day with gifts to show their appreciation. The outpouring of community support helped our client realize just how special her neighborhood is.
By taking control of the downsizing process, she felt empowered, free from the burden of unnecessary belongings, and thrilled to see her items bring joy to others.
